Nigel Calder Joins Forces with Outbound Yachts to Advance Offshore Cruising Systems

Fort Lauderdale, FL – November 2025 — Outbound Yachts is pleased to announce that renowned marine author and systems expert Nigel Calder has joined the Outbound family with the purchase of a new Outbound 44. Known worldwide for his technical books and articles on boat systems, Calder is collaborating closely with Outbound’s design team to refine and enhance the yacht’s electrical and mechanical systems throughout the build.

A lifelong sailor and hands-on engineer, Calder is the author of Boatowner’s Mechanical and Electrical Manual and Marine Diesel Engines: Maintenance, Troubleshooting, and Repair — two of the most trusted technical references in the cruising world. His collaboration with Outbound Yachts brings deep systems expertise directly into the design and execution of his new 44-footer, including innovative advances in energy management, automation, and onboard reliability.
